ABOUT BLKZEN

BLKZEN (pronounced Black Zen) is an Afro-Guyanese New York native. He spends a lot of time creating and collaborating with international & interdisciplinary creators which gave him the key to understanding his process. Music is how he communicates feelings and feelings have no borders. Zen has made many fusions of genres. Each genre is a toolkit of sounds with their own culture and feeling with distinct musical landscapes. He has been traversing across countless landscapes using these different tools and when he returns to his toolbox, he brings back foreign tools to bring unique landscapes in his head to life. What genre does BLKZEN make? Whatever genre the story needs."

In the words of Zen, "When I was 8, I used to sit in my room and get goosebumps listening to Tchaikovsky and Bach. I wanted to be a conductor". Once he got a taste of creating music, Zen developed an insatiable appetite for utilizing sound to create emotion through music.
